Student Police Academy
The Perrysburg Police Division is offering a chance for students to learn about what it takes to become a police officer. The Division is holding its first Student Police Academy from July 15-19 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
During the academy, students will learn:
• How to become a police officer
• Role of police detectives
• Forensic crime scene investigation
• The use of police equipment (drones, tasers, speed measuring devices)
• Field training
• Case law
• The role of juvenile court (participate in a mock trial)
• The history of the Perrysburg Police Division
They’ll also have the opportunity to participate in a ride-along with a Perrysburg Police officer.
The Student Police Academy is open to Perrysburg students entering grades 9 through 12. Class size is limited to 20 people. Students should email School Resource Officer Greg Cole at gcole@perrysburgschools.net or Lt. Brenton Duran at bduran@ci.perrysburg.oh.us by June 1 to reserve their spot.
