Five new firefighter/paramedics join Perrysburg Fire Division

April 15, 2024

The City of Perrysburg has five new full-time firefighter/paramedics. They were sworn in on Monday, April 15 by Mayor Tom Mackin.

Two of the new hires are replacing vacant positions. The other three are new positions which will add one firefighter/paramedic to each of the Division’s three shifts. The additional positions are part of a plan that was put into place last year to address understaffing.

“The city has grown both in terms of size, population and call volume,” said Fire Chief William McCullough. “These additional firefighter/paramedics will help us provide the level of service that our residents expect and deserve without compromising the safety of both our city and our firefighters.”

This brings the number of full-time firefighter/paramedics to 33 (which includes the fire chief, deputy chief, and fire marshal).

The new firefighter/paramedics come from Allen County, Bowling Green, Defiance, Northwood, and Wauseon. One of them has been working part-time for the Perrysburg Fire Division since 2020.
